Welcome to Grace Lutheran Church. My name is Pastor John Bischoff. A little bit about me:

I am married to Elisabeth and together we have two beautiful boys, Ian and Micah and we live here in Kenosha. Both Elisabeth and I grew up in Shorewood (a

suburb of Milwaukee) and attended Shorewood High school. I received a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology from Milwaukee School of Engineer. I spent 4

years as an engineer in the aerospace/avionics industry where I designed cables for radio systems but my main focus turned towards designing LED lighting systems

primarily for aircraft.

Elisabeth is a teacher in KUSD and trained in American Sign Language. She worked with the deaf and hard of hearing in Waukesha after graduating from UW-

Milwaukee with a BS in Education and later receiving a Masters in Education from Carrol College.

Elisabeth and I were married July of 2000. A year later we moved to Chicago with our two dogs Keena and Schus. During our four years in Chicago, I attended the

Lutheran School of Theology and Elisabeth worked for the University of Chicago. While in Chicago we were blessing with Ian in 2002 and Micah in 2004. We

moved to Cedarburg where I served my first call at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

I love to ride my bike, taking walks with my wife and kids, reading, and listening to just about all types of music. When I am not worn out keeping up with my boys,

I spend time working on my wood lathe making candle holders, pens and other odd things. This winter I entered the world the amateur astronomy and find that I

stay up way to late some nights looking at the vastness of God's universe.

I have a passion for social justice issues and hear in Scripture God's call through the prophets and of course Jesus to bring good news to the poor and advocate on

behalf of those in society who are oppressed. Along with my pastoral duties at Grace, I also sit on the board of the ELCA Urban Outreach Center and am a

member of the Strengthening Humanity Network in Kenosha.
